Sukadana Village in the Bayan District of Northern Lombok.
Classroom of Hope Indonesia
SDN 4 Sukadana Filial Semokan Ruak serves students from an extremely remote area of Lombok. The 2018 earthquakes destroyed the original three classrooms at the school. In response, the government provided a replacement school building consisting of two classrooms and an office. Unfortunately, the limited classroom space meant that all six classes had to share these two classrooms. This created challenging learning conditions for both teachers and students and the school also had insufficient toilet facilities.
SDN 4 Sukadana Filial Semokan Ruak Block School consists of two fully furnished classrooms fitted with lights, fans, and power points and fully furnished with desks and chairs, whiteboards, a filing cabinet, and a storage cupboard. Two new Block Toilets have also been built at the school to ensure improved sanitation standards and prevent hygiene-related illnesses. This permanent structure provides a safe and motivating learning environment for the students and teachers. Parents will feel comfortable knowing that the Block School is earthquake-resistant, which will encourage them to allow their children to pursue education. The construction of the new building emphasises the importance of education to the whole community and provides an incentive for the children to complete their primary education.
