BACKGROUND

SDN 1 Sokong Elementary School is located in the Tanjung Region, North Lombok, and has a population of around 3,000, whose primary income is hospitality or coconut farming. The 2018 Lombok earthquakes destroyed ten classrooms. While the government rebuilt six new classrooms after the earthquakes, the school needed four more classrooms to accommodate its 212 students.

OUTCOMES

SDN 1 Sokong Block School consists of four fully furnished classrooms fitted with lights, fans, and power points and fully furnished with desks and chairs, whiteboards, a filing cabinet, and a storage cupboard. This permanent structure provides a safe and motivating learning environment for 212 students. Parents will feel comfortable knowing that this Block School is earthquake-resistant, which will encourage them to allow their children to pursue education. The construction of the new building emphasises the importance of education to the whole community and provides an incentive for the children to complete their primary education.
