BACKGROUND

Ko Koh Primary School consisted of four concrete buildings and a wooden building. The wooden building was in very poor condition. The rainwater ran through the gaps between the slats and holes in the walls, causing intense foundational and structural damage. The dilapidated building was on the verge of collapse. The result was a learning environment that was neither comfortable nor motivating. The entire building was beyond repair and a safety and health risk to the students and teachers.

OUTCOMES

Ko Koh Primary School consists of five fully furnished classrooms for a safer and more motivating learning environment. Currently, the school employs 17 teachers and serves 740 students (378 boys and 362 girls) ranging from 6 to 12 years of age. With a quality learning environment parents from Ko Koh Village are encouraged to allow their children to pursue education and children are incentivised to continue and finish their primary education.
